PowerPaddle - THIS WEEKEND ! ! !

Why spend another boring 4th of July weekend sitting around the cottage with nothing to do? Grab your kayak or canoe and head on down to the Muskegon River in Newaygo and join us for a paddle...a PowerPaddle!

Two great races to choose from: The Fun Paddle - for all ages and experience levels; or the Hard Core Race - for more experienced paddlers who are looking for a real challenge. You can sign up online by clicking H E R E or by visiting any of the Powers Outdoors retail locations in Newaygo, Rockford or Montague.

All participants of either race get an afternoon of fun and a T-shirt. Also, be sure to join us in Brooks Park, downtown Newaygo after the races for a Chicken BBQ put on by the Newaygo Chamber of Commerce.

Thanks again to all of our sponsors of this race: Rudert Insurance Company; Linck Insurance Company; ChoiceOne Bank; Newaygo Auto Mall; Jansma Construction Company; & Newaygo Chiropractic Center.

That being said, please be sure to check out the Article by clicking HERE. The article is titled "Local Outfitter Offers Outdoor Adventures". This was written by R.I. reporter Kathy Berlin. Thanks for the nod Kathy, and you are more than welcome to join us on our next Adventure!

POA Featured on Fox 28

It wasn't your average Father's Day! POA took 2 groups to East Race Waterway in South Bend, IN this past Sunday. A caravan from Chicago, IL and Rockford, MI converged for a day of paddling, food, and good times on the man-made whitewater course in South Bend.

Fox News 28 was there to interview some of the paddlers that had come out to spend father's day on the water. You can read about the story HERE. The story was titled "A father's day gem found in South Bend" and you can check it out at http://www.fox28.com/. There are also some additional pictures on our Flickr page, which you can get to by clicking HERE.

If you would like to join us for our next East Race outing, it will take place on July 18th. Cost will be $75/person if you have all of your gear. It cost and extra $25/person for rental of kayak, paddle, pfd, skirt, and helmet. (all required by East Race). Who knows...maybe you will end up on T.V.! Don't forget to check out http://www.fox28.com/ for the story and video.

We love being famous!

Michigan Paddle Symposium - SUCCESS ! ! !

Thanks to all that attended the 2009 Michigan Paddle Symposium at both Wabasis Lake State Park and Brooks Lake. Also, a special thanks to our volunteers and instructors, to which, we could not pull this off without you!

We had close to 150 attendees this year, making this our largest Symposiuum to date. Kayaks of all shapes and sizes were on display and used for instruction demonstrations. But the hit of the Symposium (aside from the best instruction you can get!) were the paddleboards. Stand up paddleboarding will surely be something gaining in popularity over the next few years. We hope to keep you ahead of the curve so if you have any questions on kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards...don't hesitate to ask!

See you all for the 2010 Symposium Next Year!
