Back from the Agawa River, ON, Canada
The Adventures Group returned from a 5 day, 4 night Trip to the mighty Agawa River in Ontario, Canada. Despite reports that the river was "too low" to paddle, the group pushed on. Although the group scraped a few rocks along the way (and had a few extra portages) for the most part there was plenty of water to go around. The black flies were out as well this year, but plenty of rain and "canadian mist" kept them in check. From our first camping spot at mile marker 112 along the Algoma Central Railway, the group followed the Agawa River as it descended over 600 ft by the time we reached Lake Superior at Highway 17 only 2 days later. This year, 11 total brave souls made the trip, paddling in 4 canoes and 7 kayaks. No Moose sightings this year, but plenty of Loons, Canadian Geese and Bald Eagles were sighted along the way. After 2 nights camping on the Agawa, the group spent their final night on the shores of Lake Superior at Pancake Bay...always a perfect end to a great trip!
See you on the Agawa in 2011!
